Pixel level Hybrid Fusion method for Pan Sharpening Landsat-7 Images

Shashidhar Sonnad, Lalitha Y S

Abstract

Modern day satellites such as LandSat /ETM+, Spot, ALOS, Quickbird, Orbview etc are using two different sensors for capturing panchromatic and multispectral images simultaneously. In this regard there is a huge demand for the techniques which combines, the both Panchromatic (PAN) and Multispectral (MS) information to deliver single high intent image. In this paper principal component analysis and guided filter (GFPCA) based hybrid image fusion method is developed to fuse PAN and MS images. Later subjective and objective evaluation is carried out between hybrid method with standard pixel level image fusion methods like Brovey transform (BT), Internsity- Hue-Saturation transform(IHS), principal component analysis transform(PCA),wavelet transform(WT) and guided filter(GF) based image merging method. The performance of the proposed hybrid image merging technique is tested by using 12 performance measurement parameters.
