Jung-Wun Lee, Kyung-Ae Cha, Jeong-Tak Ryu

Abstract

Digital signage is a new advertising medium that can attract consumer’s attention by displaying multimedia contents. However, one-way advertising system can’t expect a high advertising effect. Thus, it is necessary to develop an interactive user interface that allows a user to select desired contents. In this paper, we develop digital signage content control system based on gesture recognition technology. The proposed system detects a specific person to control the digital signage by user face recognition and then it can characterize the user’s hand. The mouse operation can be controlled by extracting central moment from the detected hand object in order to select or manipulate the signage content following the user’s intention. We expect to maximize the advertising effect by the active manipulation of the user rather than the fixed advertisement.
