Efficient Estimation Strategy for Population Variance in Two-Phase Sampling

Pitambar Das, G. N. Singh, A. Bandyopadhyay

Abstract

The present observation deals with the problem of estimating the population variance in two phase sampling. One class of estimators of population variance has been proposed their properties are studied. The suggested class of estimators is compared with some contemporary estimators of population variance. The merits of the proposed strategy over the existing ones have been demonstrated through empirical investigations carried over the data set of natural population. Suitable recommendations have been made to the survey statisticians for their application in real life problems.
