Estimation of Population Mean Using Auxiliary Attribute through Factor Type Estimator
Abstract
In this paper, a one parameter family of estimators, commonly known as Factor-type (F-T) estimator, has been proposed for estimating population mean of a variable by using the population proportion of an attribute as auxiliary information. The expressions for Bias and Mean squared error of the proposed estimator have been evaluated up to first order of approximation. To show that our proposed estimator is more efficient as compared to some existing estimators, we have made a comparative study with respect to their mean square errors. Numerical illustrations are given in support of the present study.
