Group Testing Through Sequential Conditional Strategy

In many situations, items can be classified as defective or non-defective and the objective is to identify all the defective items, if any, in the population. The concept of Group Testing is used to minimize the number of tests required to identify all the defective items in a group. A group testing strategy called sequential conditional strategy is proposed in this paper. The theoretical distribution of the position of last defective is derived with its mean and variance. The proposed strategy is validated using simulation for different combinations of group size and the incidence probability and implications are drawn.
