An Analysis on Competitiveness Structure of Indian Economy in the Framework of the WEF Global Competitiveness Index

Abstract



It is very important to improve competitiveness level for a country in order to achieve sustainable economic growth and the welfare of the society. Indian economy has shown a great economic potential for sustainable economic growth. For this reason, it is very interesting to analyze determinants of economic growth of the Indian economy. In this study, it is analyzed one of the most important indicator of economic growth which is the competitiveness structure of the Indian economy by considering the indicators of the World Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Index 2012-2013 report.
The result of the study is that although the Indian economy has important competitive advantages for some indicators stated in the study, the country should improve the competitive level of some indicators especially inadequate supply of infrastructure, corruption, inefficient government bureaucracy.
